The Slinkard takes riders around the north end of Topaz Lake and southeast across the Antelope Valley.
The course for the first loop heads north towards the end of the valley and then drops down into the stunning Walker River Canyon. After leaving the river and heading southeast through Wellington, riders begin the climb up Desert Canyon. As the canyon narrows there are a series of creek crossings before the course turns west and starts climbing more steeply. From the top of the pass there are awesome views of the surrounding peaks.
The second loop heads south and then west through the valley. In the distance the next challenge can be seen on the far side of the valley: Golden Gate Road. This short but very steep climb take riders up to the gateway for the bewitching Slinkard valley. After crossing the valley there’s a short descent on pavement and a fast spin along the west side of Topaz lake to the finish.
The full loop features surfaces ranging from double track to well paved roads along with some creek crossings.
