The Leviathan takes riders southeast into the Pinenut Mountains with a series of climbs that culminate with some breathtaking views of Carson Valley, the Sierras, and the peaks of Alpine County. It then heads west and south to climb the full length of Leviathan Mine Road and down into Markleeville. It returns to the start via back roads past Indian Creek Reservoir, through Diamond Valley, and into the ranch land of Carson Valley.

The full loop features surfaces ranging from single track to well paved roads.
